In terms of overall gaming performance, the Intel Xeon Processor X5365 is significantly better than the AMD Opteron 8374 HE when it comes to running the latest games. This also means it will be less likely to bottleneck more powerful GPUs, allowing them to achieve more of their gaming performance potential.

The Xeon Processor X5365 has a 7584 KB bigger L2 cache than the Opteron 8374 HE, and although the Xeon Processor X5365 does not appear to have an L3 cache, its larger L2 cache means that it wins out in this area.

The maximum Thermal Design Power is the power in Watts that the CPU will consume in the worst case scenario. The lithography is the semiconductor manufacturing technology being used to create the CPU - the smaller this is, the more transistors that can be fit into the CPU, and the closer the connections. The Opteron 8374 HE has a 95 Watt lower Maximum TDP than the Xeon Processor X5365, and was created with a 20 nm smaller manufacturing technology. What this means is the Opteron 8374 HE will consume significantly less power and consequently produce less heat, enabling more prolonged computational tasks with fewer adverse effects. This will lower your yearly electricity bill significantly, as well as prevent you from having to invest in extra cooling mechanisms (unless you overclock).

Mini ReviewXeon Processor X5365 is a Server Processor based on the 65nm, Core Architecture.

It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), Clocked at 3.0GHz 8MB of L2 Cache.
Among its many features, Virtualization is activated.

The processor DOES NOT Integrate any Graphics and shares the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 150W.

Benchmarks indicate its performance is just about as good as the Core 2 Quad Processors.
Opteron is AMD's x86 server and workstation processor line, and was the first processor which supported the AMD64 instruction set architecture (known generically as x86-64). It was released on April 22, 2003 with the SledgeHammer core (K8) and was intended to compete in the server and workstation markets, particularly in the same segment as the Intel Xeon processor. Processors based on the AMD K10 microarchitecture (codenamed Barcelona) were announced on September 10, 2007 featuring a new quad-core configuration. The most-recently released Opteron CPUs are the Piledriver-based Opteron 4300 and 6300 series processors, codenamed "Seoul" and "Abu Dhabi" respectively.
