In terms of overall gaming performance, the Intel Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz is very slightly better than the AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core L325 when it comes to running the latest games. This also means it will be less likely to bottleneck more powerful GPUs, allowing them to achieve more of their gaming performance potential.

Bear in mind that although it is better to have a larger cache, the larger it is, the higher the latency, so a balance has to be struck.

The Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz has a 1024 KB bigger L2 cache than the Athlon Neo X2, but neither of the CPUs have L3 caches, so the Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz wins out in this area with its larger L2 cache.

The maximum Thermal Design Power is the power in Watts that the CPU will consume in the worst case scenario. The lithography is the semiconductor manufacturing technology being used to create the CPU - the smaller this is, the more transistors that can be fit into the CPU, and the closer the connections. For both the lithography and the TDP, it is the lower the better, because a lower number means a lower amount of power is necessary to run the CPU, and consequently a lower amount of heat is produced.

The Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz has a 16 Watt lower Maximum TDP than the Athlon Neo X2, and was created with a 43 nm smaller manufacturing technology. What this means is the Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz will consume slightly less power and consequently produce less heat, enabling more prolonged computational tasks with fewer adverse effects. This will lower your yearly electricity bill slightly, as well as prevent you from having to invest in extra cooling mechanisms (unless you overclock).

The Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz has an on-board GPU, which means that it will be capable of running basic graphics applications (i.e., games) without the need for a dedicated graphics card. The Athlon Neo X2, however, does not, and you will probably have to look for a dedicated card if you wish to use it at all.

On-board GPUs tend to be fairly awful in comparison to dedicated cards from the likes of AMD or Nvidia, but as they are built into the CPU, they also tend to be cheaper and require far less power to run (this makes them a good choice for laptops). We would recommend a dedicated card for running the latest games, but integrated GPUs are improving all the time and casual gamers may find less recent games perform perfectly acceptably.

Mini ReviewThe Intel Atom Z3735F is a mobile chip based on the 22nm Silvermont microarchitecture. The Z3735F has 4 physical cores that are initially clocked at 1.33GHz, which may go up to 1.833GHz across 2 cores or 1.58GHz across all 4 cores. It has an L1 and L2 cache of 224 KB and 2 MB respectively and does not have an L3 cache. It integrates the weak HD Graphics and it isn't capable of running most demanding games. It has an extremely low SDP of 2.2W.With 27 mm 27 mm in size and 2.5 mm in thickness, the Athlon Neo processors utilize a new package called "ASB1", essentially a BGA package, for smaller footprint to allow smaller designs for notebooks and lowering the cost. The clock of the processors is significantly lower than desktop and other mobile counterparts to reach a low TDP, at 15W maximum for a single core x86-64 CPU at 1.6 GHz. The Athlon Neo processors are equipped with 512 KB of L2 cache and HyperTransport 1.0 running at 800 MHz frequency.
