From a Potato to a 4k Behemoth
Written by: chenzen - 04:03 Feb-04-2020

So January i was completely into console gaming and very content with that, while i owned a PC it was mostly used for viewing YouTube and emails. It was low-specced with an i3-3220, and a GT 625 OEM with 1 GB of VRAM. Sometime in april i wanted to play some Fallout New Vegas and i immediately loaded up my PS3 version and kept crashing the game. So i looked over to my potato and realized it might be just powerful enough to run it at Low settings, sure enough it did, and ran at a reasonable Frame Rate. I think this was my turning point back to PC gaming, because after a couple of hours of playing i started to re-download several games that i could run along with some NV mods that increased the stability. around May i decided to upgrade the potato, i got a fast i5-3470 and an RX 550 2gb. I also began selling off my Plystation collection to help fund a Ryzen machine, However i wouldn't fully realize that machine until around mid July. After i finally came up with the money, i retired my potato to the closest and Built my Ryzen 5 2600 with an RX 480 4gb, 16 GB of RAM and a total of 2 TB of Storage. I preceded to redownlaod most of Steam library and was back into using a Keyboard instead of a controller. Fast-Forward to November when i invested into faster RAM and Ryzen took advantage of that, along with a brand new Vega 64 GPU. SO in retrospect, i have a build im extremely happy with and while i enjoyed my time with consoles i couldnt be more excited about being involved again with PC gaming and im blown away that i have a PC capable of Full 4k gaming!

congratz buddy!
years back I had potato PC and upgraded to i3-2130 without graphics card - that was already a big upgrade for me,
some years later I went through GTX770 to GTX980Ti and now I got GTX1080Ti and I don't have a need to upgrade any further yet :)
