Best Remaster
Gaming continues to mature at an incredible rate. The titles we loved just a decade ago have rapidly aged as developers learn new tricks, both in terms of gameplay and visuals. Whatever happens though, these are still fantastic games, and it’s great when new life can be breathed into them thanks to a loving remaster. Some are necessary, some aren’t, but we believe these are the best of the bunch this year.
The performance issues can be a little hard to stomach but, that aside, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is a gorgeous yet faithful reimagining of one of the Game Boy’s greatest titles. The tilt shift diorama effect is a feast for the eyes and this intricate adventure is still every bit as joyous as it was on a two inch screen.

MediEvil is one of those unsung gems of the PSone era that sadly fell to the wayside against the might of Crash and Spyro. In this sense it was pretty awesome that Sony chose to put so much effort into a top-tier remake, one which remains very true to the original while dishing out some lovely visual enhancements. It’s spooky, it’s funny, and it made for one hell of a Halloween game.
