Epic Games Store
A newcomer to the PC digital storefront scene, the Epic Games Store sprung up last December and has been growing from strength to strength since. The Epic Store has been gathering up a raft of exclusives, finding a home for a top notch library of PC games as well as given away well over 50 free games over the course of the year. The EGS isn’t without its detractors but it will have been a fine year of progress from Epic’s perspective.

Origin
The Origin may not have the widest library of games outside of EA’s in-house titles but it’s nevertheless on the top. Compared to some other clients out there, Origin certainly works and does everything you’d hope it to. Throw the PC launch of Origin Access Premier into the mix and you’ve got a great platform for playing Electronic Arts titles.

Battle.net
Battle.net is an escapable entity for Blizzard fans, as synonymous with PC gaming as curry with rice or Randy Pitchford and magic tricks. If you want to play Diablo, Warcraft, or Overwatch, you’ll be needing this. But, Battle.net is also the home of a handful of Activision’s biggest titles, such as the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Just don’t mention Destiny 2, Ok?

Itch.io
Indie is king, and there’s no better place to explore the bizarre underworld of indie titles than itch.io. This is a storefront where the more experimental projects can blossom, full of wonderful ideas and personal visions that are each wholly unique. Unlike some of the larger storefronts, game developers are given total over how their content is sold, leading to one of most personal storefronts around.
